MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 110

What does today have in common with 109 other Mondays? It's time for the Mystery Jam... #110! As usual, we will be playing for an MP3 download, courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. The rules haven't changed: you need to correctly identify the song and the date to win. Post your guess in the comments. One guess per person per day (with the second “day” starting after I post the hint). A hint will be posted on Tuesday (if necessary) and the answer will be posted on Wednesday. Good luck...

Wednesday Answer: Congrats to ucpete on his first win, correctly ID'ing the 12/31/02 "Piper." The Blog will be back on Monday with MJM111 but, for now, it's off to Long Beach!

Yeah dude, that kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing! And you never know if it'll make it till tomorrow as @bl002e points out. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if bl002e already got it right...

uctweezer It's definitely Piper or a -> Piper. You can hear Trey start the theme at the end of this clip...

mikh2wg It sounds like early 90s to me. Just a quick little jam. So I'm gonna say 8/24/93 Chalkdust Torture. Wild guess.

I concur. I thought it was 2.0 and guess you can't get any earlier that the 2.0 Piper opener.

mcgrupp81 I saw that the 12/31/02 Piper had a Low Rider tease. I could be hearing things because of that, but it sounds like Page is playing an up tempo quick tease midway through the jam. Not the tease noted in the tease chart, just a hint at one. Congrats ucpete.

Thanks dude-- funny you mention that tease, because I heard it as the "Mission Impossible" theme and was scrambling wildly through the tease chart for it that way :)

dr_strangelove Just a suggestion, but after someone gets the answer right, it would be cool to provide a link to the full song so we could hear the jam in its full context... or I could just stop being lazy and download it from the spreedsheet... i'm lazy though.

Hose_jam ugh, if i had steady internet connection i would have gotten this for sure! love the end of this jam when mike comes in with that bassline...probably would have pushed it if it weren't the first set of a comeback show...have that bassline engraved in my brain for some reason
, comment by swampthing
