RoundTheRoom Maybe my favorite 3.0 jam. The funk!

raidcehlalred It's pretty cool how, from about seconds eight through fourteen, Page seems to be thinking about minutes fifteen through twenty.

n00b100 It's probably either this or the 9/1/12 Light that would be considered the most famous jam they've played at Dick's, right? To me, it's one of the jams they've played in the modern era that hews closest to what they did in '97 (and I'm not just talking about the dirt-nasty funkiness), in that they found a musical idea, saw it out, found another musical idea, saw it out, and then closed in style (and went into Ghost, to boot). This might be the most purely user-friendly "here, you're a neophyte, give this a whirl and see whatcha think" jam they've played since 2009, and *obviously* I mean that as a very high compliment.

This was my third show and I've been hooked since.

ProfPhan I believe this contends as not only one of the best jams in 3.0 but in 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 combined.

Blissful, dark, funkdafied, psychedelic, danceable and transcendental -- what more do you want???

Cerias This version of Simple is all that AND a bag of chips! I must have listened to it 5 times between getting home after being there and the next night. Just great!

TheStee This is great. Never listened to it before. Loved it!

nichobert It's no Greek Simple, but it's pretty awesome

AbeVigoda Am I the only one who didn't realize that "No Men in No Man's Land" originated from this jam? Walked away from the computer for a bit during the jam, came back around 16:30 and though it was "No Man's" playing.

Nice! Better ear than dance moves, Abe. If so, I heard it from you first. Given the band's penchant to revisit cool jams as means to cull source material....

I'm happy to give @nichobert the nod, here. And this isn't in response to @n00b100 's point - 'hewing' close to '97 and whatnot....

....that reads accurate, and makes sense to me. I don't get the 96 comparisons raised elsewhere, particularly on the jam 'chart.'

In 96 Simple was supercharged and exceedingly percussive; especially leading up to and post 10/31. I agree that the year was a high-water mark for the tune, but don't here that here - or at the Greek, either.

Greek at 10.00 mins is great Phish music. Better than the 96 ideas, I think -

I think there are a few other Dick's jams that stand out. The Tweezer from 9/3/11 is up there. The Chalk Dust from 8/31/12 and the CD from last year. The Carini from 2013. The Piper from 9/4/11 with the vocal jam is still one of my faves.

hmmmm.... i still think if i had to pick one song to play someone who gets music, but never listened to Phish (oxymoron) it'd be the UNDERMIND.

aside from the obvious songs before this year's slate, sugar shack (particularly when less-executed), and this VERSION (especially at 3.50), makes me think about all the dead i've listened to -

for me, the light is interesting for reasons @n00b100 mentioned regarding the simple.... like @factsareuseless always correctly points out, trey THINKS. there are just several well-thought out (and developed passages here).

i'm not huge into light. not exactly sure why. my hope is that one day i wake up and it's what i'm into. but i love the second part. great Mike.

i always hear a lot of santana (a lot this year). all over the light in spots.

9/2/12 Sand says "What about me? I'm really the best jam from Dick's. Why doesn't anybody want to play with me any more?"
, comment by DMCCatskills
DMCCatskills I love this version... Crazy to think that a couple little trills that Trey was playing - stopped the verse progression in it's tracks and it became a stellar jam..

It's also the moment my now girlfriend and I had our first real kiss... Glad it was a long version... hahaha...
Dicks was our first date... :)
