n00b100 1997 is, by a rather wide margin, the pre-2000 year of Phish I listen to the most, so I'll be interested to see how this goes. A few thoughts:

1. Whether or not you think 12/7/97 II is "light", I really cannot get behind the notion that the show is "two first sets". For one thing, there are *precious few* first sets in Phish's history that matches 12/7/97 I. For another, if they played 12/7/97 II as a first set today (or in any other year, for that matter), peoples' heads would explode.

2. I think the 3/1/97 Wolfman's is getting short shrift, even as "more than respectable"; not only is it a very strong funk jam to my ears, but its historical significance is gigantic, just as much as something like the Bangor Tweezer or Murat Gin. The rest of the show I'm fine with not making the Top 20.

3. I like the shout-out to 12/12/97. Both Albany shows deserve more play.

4. 11/22/97 II is part of my favorite show of all time, and (with the possible exception of Halley's) you could say the exact same thing about that set as you did about 12/29/97 II. I'm not surprised that 12/30/97 would be held in higher esteem, but I am surprised that 20 shows are deemed superior to it (actually more, counting the other Honorable Mentions).

5. To piggyback on @nichobert's above point, the dark horse Europe show I'd want to see is 7/10/97.
