Review by magnetosphere

magnetosphere I have a copy of the original SBD cassette masters of this show somewhere - been meaning to dig them out and have a pro-audio pal re-master them. I mastered (pretty crudely) and posted an SHN version to GDLIVE.COM many years ago, which I believe is the sole circulating source of this very memorable early show. We hired Phish to play our party on the recommendation of a trusted friend. I believe this was their first show outside VT. Our hopes were more than met, having never heard a lick of them previously. First set was mostly covers that we knew and loved. Second set was mostly originals that we quickly learned to love. The guys were super-nice and the whole thing was mightily impressive. They totally freaked out at least one of the supposedly 'hard-corest' Deadeheads among us with their ruthless version of Whipping Post. A personal highlight for me was helping the band load in and setup before haring Golgi Aparatus as the soundcheck with only the band, Paul Languedoc, me, and their dog in the room - I ran around campus all evening spreading the word after that. More than a few lifelong fans were made that night, me among them.
