Back on the Train: Pretty mellow in the middle. But the last couple of minutes are lots of fun. A big held note and then burning the place down. Very nice.

Destiny Unbound: Nicely jammed but wish they would play the composed section the way it is supposed to be played.

Gotta Jibboo: Standard, canned bliss jam. ->

Oblivion: Tons of effects and upbeat, major mode type stuff. I know tons of fans love this style of jamming and likely this particular jam. I am just not one of those. Live and let live.

Torn and Frayed: Great tune, been a minute since they played this.

Light: Trey’s voice is shot. Fun, energetic jam. I liked it but just when it starts to get some legs ol ADD Trey has other ideas and rip cords it into… ->

Fuego: Lots of reverse reverb, pretty cool. Decent segue into… ->

Say It To Me S.A.N.T.O.S. – Lame and lacking energy. If they could play it like the Charlotte 2019 show, then I would be good with it. But like this one? Meh city.

Summary: This show just doesn’t do it for me. Nothing to revisit for me personally, your mileage may vary. The current rating of 3.751/5 (189 ratings) seems to high for me. I think this is a perfectly average show, maybe even less than. Therefore, I am hitting it at 3/5.

Words from the Couch:

Solid tour opener that felt like a solid tour opener.

Long-songy first set to get in the groove with a punchy Julius to bust open the door. Highlight was the thick stew Axilla jam into an above-average Maze, into a Wolfman’s that caught the scent straightaway.

Second set did the thing with a saucy Jibbo into a simmering Oblivion (longest to date) with deceptively simple motifs that echoed MSG7 and Dick’s jams. Fun T&F breakout, though it really exposed that poor Trey’s vocal cords sure need some honey blossom and lemon rind tea. (Sounds like Bog Red is getting over a cold.) Hot-but-not-scorching Fuego is another highlight.

Dug the surprise Antelope to extend the encore and boy, man, indoor CK5 is undefeated. A good-great night of Couch Phish with plenty of sky left for the tour to elevate itself. (See y’all at Nutter!)

This is a heater from top to bottom, Julius just absolutely rockstar status. Back on the Train soaring above the clouds. Absolutely love My Soul.

Jibboo, though short, had the band land in a segment of straight undeniable hose. Seriously give it a listen.

Rock & Roll first set, psychedelic 2nd set.

Always love the "I'm tripping so thr band is probably also tripping" mindset haha. Classic psychedelic take on things.

When I went to the show at Dicks the first night of the run a couple of month ago I hadn't seen the band in 11 years. Had some ups and downs since then but it was really great to see them again. I left after the first set though I really enjoyed myself and was ready for more so I flew out from CO for the Nashville Run. My seat at Bridgestone was on the side of the stage right though I wish I had been on the other side where there was more light action, I thought the first set was strong. Liked the pumpkin light at the start. They made a few mistakes but hit some great peaks as well. 2nd set was pretty mellow with some good peaks again. I was glad to get a chance to sit down and and the music. There were some wild dancers around me (one in particular who was a trip) but pretty chill for the most part. A lot of my row was empty to I had plenty of space. I left at the last song in the set which I don't really like that much--a bit agro. By that time I was tired enough. I made it back to my car and hotel without falling or locking my keys in the car so that was a relief. Looking forward to tomorrow night!

Not gonna be the show of the year, definitely a tour opener… but it was a lot of fun. The Wolfman’s jam is where I thought they really locked in. The spacy Jibboo —> Oblivion-> jam was fantastic, and the Fuego was flawless, dark and powerful.

My biggest complaint is with the sound, often being muddy and not enough low end… which I’ve heard is common for Bridgestone.

Friday night. Shrooms night. Seems to be a pattern this year! Like 7/28 at MSG and Friday at Dick's, this is indeed a perfect psychedelic 2nd set! No filler. Being a musician who also improvises with the boys regularly and who also enjoys playing on shrooms, as it elevates your communication in the music realm, I am pretty sure this was a shrooms night for the band. You can play just fine on shrooms if you get the dose right. Mike made it very clear that he likes to shroom and play (look at his notes from the LivePhish release form Portland Meadows 1998!) and no doubt others in the band have as well....but sometimes it hits you a little harder upfront than you would like....and you are just hanging on, musically speaking, till the end of the first set, so you can take a breather and get your bearings for a transcendental 2nd set. This is exactly what Page looked like to me after bumbling through the Destiny vocals as they somehow made their way through A very out of character Character! Wolfman's was gold but don't miss the Axilla jam! That was dark and broody. As was mentioned by a review from Dick's Trey just lost his friend James Casey at the end of summer and this show has many elements of him and the boys thinking about his death. Hear what trey says before diving into the Axilla jam and look at 2nd set songs. Oblivion being the obvious one.....

2nd set was absolute psychedelic perfection from top to bottom. No filler. The Jiboo>Oblivion was just sick! Finally Oblivion gets taken for a serious ride. Absolutely love this song now! They did a beauty in the summer, but most of you missed it, because it was part of that aborted rain show from NC (who has an outdoor stage on east coast without a roof over the stage?) This one clocks in at over 20 minutes and with an impressive 10 minute Jiboo....we are halfway through the set!!! Epic stuff folks. Then Torn and Frayed!! Just as long as the guitar plays!! Awesome bust out!! Well played and one of my fav Stones songs they play. Light was also stellar and just dripping into an equally amazing Fuego with dark psychedelic jamming for the end jam. Killer stuff! Time to rock out and SANTOS is as good as anything. Note the lyrics are about space and our mortality so fits with the shrooms and Casey tribute night!.......
But if there was any question about the band having a shrooms night, look no further than this encore!! Over 20 minutes of deep delish with the surprising 46 days>Antelope!! Both just dripping with psychedelia! Brilliant stuff boys! Contrary to the other review I saw, this is worth many listens!!! Especially for any psychedelic listening parties you may have! This 2nd set will hold up against any legendary psychedelic piece of music. Electric ladyland levels here folks for sure. And I am very fussy about what I listen to when tripping. My musicians ear will not accept just average music when under those conditions. If you don't like this set because of the song selections, then you are missing the whole point. No Rules. It's about the playing, not the song selection.
