This single-set performance, a taping for the PBS television show Sessions at West 54th, was performed in front of roughly 200 fans and industry executives. The show was first broadcast the week of January 9, 1999. Sleep, Driver and Albuquerque were performed acoustic. Trey made jokes about the length of Guyute, remarking that the show could cut to four commercial breaks and the band would still be playing the same song. Taste was played after Trey took the crowd’s requests for the final song. When the show was aired, only Birds, Ghost, and Taste were broadcast, with interviews interspersed between songs.

Review by Dressed_In_Gray

Dressed_In_Gray This was the perfect venue to showcase Story Of The Ghost material. Controlled, quiet and intimate, with an audience arguably paying more attention to the band as the average Phish concert attendee.

Notable was the lack of "obligatory crowd cheer" during the silent break in Ghost, the (almost) silent segue between Frankie Sez and Ghost, and many more.

Roggae was the stand-out performance here, with the vocals and instrumentation both brilliantly executed. Taste is also worth noting as the finale is one of the best. Also, a closeup and personal view of the mechanics of Guyute is great for those of us usually in the cheap seats.

Best point: no Meat. Worst point(s): no Limb By Limb or Moma Dance

The full interviews between Byrne and Phish are here at phishcoventry:

and all the song performances are posted to youtube.

I remember wishing I could have been there at the time, but the internetz gives me the next best thing!! :)
