Phish played a solid chunk of this classic tune at the 5/16/95 Lowell show, in honor of the pioneering woman’s rights advocate, Gloria Steinem. Ms. Steinem was instrumental in organizing the Voters For Choice benefit that served as the venue for the guys to display no less than ten new songs for the unsuspecting (and thrilled) crowd. While Phish seems content with this single performance, band members have intersected with this tune several times outside of the Phish context. Trey and Page jammed on “Gloria” with Blues Traveler, sandwiched within “Gotta Get Mean” on 9/8/90. Trey and Mike – none the worse for wear after their performance at Roseland Ballroom earlier in the night – sat in on the “Gloria” encore at the Ritz Power Jam on 2/5/93. Then on 5/30/93 Page and Trey again joined Blues Traveler for their “Gloria” encore, this time with additional guest Todd Park Mohr of Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
